do it yourself
Gate 14 was custom built, from concrete floor to exposed-beam rafters, with the tireless help of the entire pre-existing Gate 14 community. Designed by the founders and their close friend Nick Troutman, the space reflects the utilitarian efficiency which underpins their Composite Training regimen. All materials serve a specific function, and every square inch is accounted for.
Housed in the former machine shop of the repurposed Wyle Laboratories building, its high ceilings, white walls, and industrial aesthetic set the stage for the work we do. Outfitted with the latest in Rogue fitness equipment, Brute Force sandbags, and commercial grade treadmills, the space purposefully lacks the gimmicks of other gyms and sticks to those simple, tried-and-true pieces of equipment that have proven their worth over decades: dumbbells, barbells, treadmills, weight sleds, and pull-up bars.
Our 1,800 handcrafted square-feet showcase the bespoke craftsmanship you will rarely find in the cookie-cutter gym experience. We are proudly one-of-a-kind, and approach our workouts in a holistic manner that, like our protocols, values equally form and content. Here you'll find your benchmark scores digitized on our 70" flatscreen and your water chilled in our reverse-osmosis water fountain. But you'll also find the analog inspiration—books and vinyl records—which informs our workouts for sale at the front desk. Gate 14 is a space both to do work, and to find the inspiration to do it well.
